Description of function
- To provide technical input to ensure stable day-to-day operation of the Wet Prep and AD on site, to meet or exceed budgeted generation from the CHP.
- To closely monitor process conditions and data to guide the Operations Manager and Maintenance Engineer in the steps to take to maintain or improve operations.
- To closely monitor the process identifying issues and opportunities for process improvement.
- To identify engineering solutions and programmes of investment to improve safety, plant performance, quality and capacity.
- To develop a knowledge of the ACF in order to provide cover for the Process and Compliance Manager.

Job responsibilities
- To carry out assessments of plant performance, quality, and capability against plant design, budget and/or customer specifications. Where necessary, design and execute trials to further develop process capability.
- Identify real world solutions and engineering options to site-based issues, increasing safety, plant performance, quality and capacity, and develop preliminary designs and solutions to business challenges.
- To support & validate any site level initiatives, ensuring that robust technical preparation is completed and confirming that proposals are safe, technically feasible and financially viable.
- To be proactive in assisting the teams with the delivery of planned and reactive workload or technical expertise as and when required.
- To participate in the technical governance of projects/developments. To peer review ongoing work with aim of developing better solutions and adding to the corporate knowledge base.
- Develop a deep technical understanding of the process and become a recognised internal expert. Provide a technical trouble shooting service and support including incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Act as the engineering specialist client representative for improvement and continuity projects, and ensure standards are driven and maintained at all times.
- Continuously evaluate equipment reliability and / or performance leading to RCA or similar studies and the planning and implementation of subsequent improvement activity.
- To ensure that all modifications or changes to equipment are in line with safety regulations.
- To provide engineering expertise to assist and influence decision making.
- To keep informed of industry developments, technological advances and operational practices and use these where appropriate to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the recycling business and to gain competitive advantage.

KE2: Knowledge in a technical/process-oriented role from areas such as FMCG/ manufacturing/ waste management

KE5: Working knowledge of health and safety regulations. (PUWER, LOLER, Working at height etc)

KD1: In depth knowledge of material handling/ material processing in an area such as waste management/ food processing/ or manufacturing

EE4: Experience in the development of technical solutions from concept selection, through design development, installation and commissioning.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
QE1: Degree qualified in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Desirable
QD1: NEBOSH General Certificate in health and safety or equivalent.
